How proud we are of them and a BIG thank you to our staff who organised our children and attended the event, and to any parents who went to watch. Results were – Year 3 won their age group with Jack from year 2 swimming : Year 4 came third with Caitlin, Tia, Lottie from year 3 (swimming in year 4 group) : and as a school overall we came joint first with St Uny school. Brilliant.
We took part in the large schools Badminton festival held recently at
Our High Five team played St Hilary winning 14-0 which was a great result. A BIG thank you to St Hilary as they kept going and both teams played with great spirit.
READING BOOKS AND OUR NEW LOOK LIBRARY -
We have had two ladies from the library service at county hall in for 3 days to give our library area a make over...it was a massive job as it hadn't been done for a very long time. It has now been organised and filled with many wonderful new books both fiction and non fiction – so don’t forget any parents, if you wish, can come with your child(ren) to Miss Fitzgerald’s library club on a Monday between 3.15 and 4.15 to choose and share a book.
Whilst on the subject of books - we are also updating our reading scheme as it was beginning to look a bit 'tired around the edges'. Many of our current books, plus the new books we are ordering, are going to be colour banded. Miss Fitzgerald has been working incredibly hard on this and the work is on-going. Once we have all the new books in the system and we have them all banded by colour, we are planning on holding a ‘literacy open afternoon’ and possibly an ‘evening session’ as well, to inform parents about the guided reading in school and other areas of literacy. We will send more information out early next term.
